In July this year, CMS held its Annual General Meeting to elect the committee for the next financial year. For the first time, and coinciding with the 5th anniversary of the society, the AGM was paired with a sit-down dinner at the Crown Hotel Camden. Guests, including State Member for Camden, Sally Quinnell, and society founder Melissa Musgrave, sat down to a two course meal, nicely rounded off with an amazing celebration cake, made by Bev and Chris Holmes.
Following the dinner, MP Quinnell talked to society members about the performing arts in the local area, and encouraged the society to continue its fantastic work. She then awarded Melissa Musgrave the society’s first life membership, presented to honour her initiative in starting up the society and in recognition of the time and effort Melissa has put into the society over the past five years. Speeches by Melissa and founding president Craig Davidson took those present on a journey over the past five years, complemented by a slide presentation that evoked many happy memories from those present, sparking lots of animated discussions.
To round off the evening, the new committee was elected and badges were presented by MP Quinnell to the incoming members. An enjoyable, entertaining evening was had by all, and the society is looking to make this AGM dinner an annual event. Thanks go to all those who supported the event, and in particular to the committee members who put the time into its organisation. If you missed out this time, make sure you keep watching our newsletters to find out when the next dinner will be held (hint: about 12 months from now!).
Cheers to five years!

Congratulations to all that have followed in the footsteps of those who dared to dream 5 years ago and of those who have been part of this journey. I am so proud to be our first life member and hope that what we built with blood, sweat and tears (many tears) will continue to prosper and provide opportunities for all for many years into the future. Thank you. to Sally Quinnell MP for her support for CMS and the arts in Camden!!
